Pacific 62 Delivery From Cairns to Bali.
This was the second delivery we completed on this Dickey Boats Pacific 62, following an earlier passage on the same vessel. Returning to a yacht for a second offshore delivery provides the delivery skipper valuable familiarity with its systems, operating characteristics and preferred cruising parameters.
The passage from Cairns to Bali involved a substantial offshore relocation through the Torres Strait and Indonesian waters. Fuel management was an important consideration over the longer legs, with the vessel’s range allowing the passage to be planned around suitable refuelling and clearance points rather than relying on frequent marina stops.
The route also involved a significant change in operating environment, from the open waters north of Australia into the island passages of Indonesia. Navigation around reefs, islands, fishing activity and commercial traffic becomes increasingly important as the vessel progresses west towards Bali.
The Pacific 62 is designed as a capable offshore power yacht, with the range and seakeeping characteristics required for longer passages. Having already delivered this particular vessel, the second passage could be approached with an established understanding of its performance and onboard systems. Long motor yacht passages are routinely undertaken by YDS.
