Crossing Bass Strait: What Yacht Owners Need to Understand Before Committing A Bass Strait passage is often underestimated. On paper, it
Every delivery is planned and executed with clarity, reliability, and full transparency. Our service includes comprehensive safety checks before departure, continuous satellite tracking throughout the voyage, and direct communication with your assigned delivery skipper — so you always know where your vessel is and how the passage is progressing.
Track your yacht in real time throughout the delivery. Satellite tracking provides continuous position updates, allowing you to monitor progress from anywhere and maintain full visibility of the voyage.
You deal directly with the skipper responsible for your vessel. Clear, consistent updates from departure to handover — no middlemen, no gaps, no surprises.
Every expense is clearly itemised and documented. You receive straightforward, easy-to-review cost breakdowns so there is complete financial clarity from start to finish.
Australia’s coastline demands experience, local knowledge, and disciplined passage planning. Our team specialises exclusively in yacht delivery across Australian waters, from coastal passages to offshore relocations.
Each delivery is planned around prevailing conditions, vessel capability, and efficient routing. We manage passage planning, weather windows, and port requirements, while owners remain in direct contact with the skipper responsible for their yacht.
The focus is straightforward: move your vessel efficiently, professionally, and with full transparency from departure to handover.
We are dedicated delivery specialists, focused exclusively on sail and power boat relocation in Australia & The South Pacific and as far Asia
We provide monohull yacht deliveries throughout Australia and offshore destinations. Our skippers have extensive experience with production and blue-water yachts, including Beneteau, Jeanneau, and Oyster, operating confidently along the Australian coast.
From the Gold Coast to Fiji, New Zealand, and across the Coral Sea, we deliver catamarans and performance multihulls with precision. Our team has safely delivered Lagoons, Sunreef, Seawind, and similar vessels on long-range offshore routes and complex coastal passages.
Our delivery skippers are highly experienced with modern power yachts and long-range motor vessels. We regularly deliver Nordhavn, Riviera, Horizon, and comparable yachts along the Australian coastline and on extended voyages between Australia and the Pacific.

These guys are the best, I have over 30 years of commercial seatime and have utilized a few others for boat deliveries but none of them compare to quality of service given by YDS.
Couldn’t be happier with the results and they spent time afterwards on a detailed handover and gave me a stack of photos and videos!
They did all the commissioning, sea trials and delivered our yacht literally with the interior wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard – she looked like new!
We plan deliveries to avoid unnecessary stress on the yacht. Weather windows, routing, and speed are managed to suit local conditions, whether that’s the east coast between Sydney and the Gold Coast, a Bass Strait crossing, or longer passages north toward the Coral Sea.
Decisions are made to keep the boat moving efficiently without being pushed, so it arrives safely and ready to be used after handover.
Gary has spent his life at sea, from Caribbean trade winds to long South Pacific passages. An ex–Coast Guard skipper, he’s calm, methodical, and easy to deal with. Gary runs deliveries the way experienced owners expect: quietly competent, well prepared, and without drama.
Sam is a practical, adaptable skipper who’s comfortable handling whatever a delivery throws up. He’s known for staying level-headed offshore and keeping boats moving smoothly from handover to arrival. Owners value Sam for his reliability, clear communication, and no-nonsense approach.
Nico specialises in planning and running longer, more complex deliveries. He focuses on routing, weather decisions, and keeping voyages efficient without pushing the boat. Clients work with Nico when they want a delivery handled thoughtfully, conservatively, and with the vessel treated properly.
Pre-departure checks, passage planning, weather routing, and professional skipper and crew appropriate to the vessel. We manage the voyage end-to-end, including fuel stops, watchkeeping, logkeeping, and handover at destination. Owners receive regular position updates throughout the passage.
Because offshore deliveries are affected by weather, sea state, and routing decisions that cannot be predicted accurately in advance. A daily rate aligns incentives correctly: decisions are made for safety and vessel care, not to protect a fixed margin or rush a passage.
Crew are selected based on vessel type, systems, route, and conditions. Experience with similar yachts and Australian coastal or offshore routes is prioritised. We do not place inexperienced crew on complex or high-value deliveries.
We mitigate this risk through rigorous pre-departure checks. If a breakdown does occur, our crew will immediately stabilize the situation and assess necessary repairs. The skipper assesses the issue and stabilises the situation first. Minor issues are handled onboard where appropriate. If outside support is required, we coordinate repairs or ports of refuge as needed, keeping the owner informed and involved in decisions throughout.
We coordinate all required clearances when a delivery involves international borders. This includes entry and exit requirements for Australia and neighbouring regions, and liaising with agents where needed. Owners are advised in advance of documentation, timelines, and any local compliance issues so there are no surprises on arrival.
We do not push schedules. Departures and routing are based on suitable weather windows, not fixed dates. If conditions deteriorate, plans are adjusted—slowing down, diverting, or waiting as required. Protecting the yacht and crew takes priority over meeting an arbitrary timeline.
You receive direct communication from the skipper, plus regular position and progress updates. Most deliveries include satellite tracking, so you can see where the yacht is at any time. If plans change due to weather or routing, you’re informed immediately.

Yacht Delivery Solutions is a specialist yacht delivery company focused solely on sail and power yacht relocations. We do not offer brokerage, charters, or general marine services. Our work is delivery — coastal, offshore, and international — carried out by professional skippers with extensive experience around the Australian coastline and the South Pacific.
Our skippers have delivered yachts along all major Australian routes, including Sydney to Brisbane, Brisbane to Cairns, Cairns to Darwin, and westward passages along the northern coast. We regularly manage deliveries through the Coral Sea, the Tasman, and onward to New Zealand and Pacific island destinations. This experience allows us to plan realistic passages that account for weather systems, distances, fuel stops, and local operating conditions.
Every delivery begins with preparation and planning. This includes pre-departure checks, route and weather analysis, crew coordination, and timing departures around suitable weather windows. Once underway, owners receive regular written updates, photos, and access to live tracking so they can follow the yacht’s progress in real time. Communication is direct and consistent throughout the voyage.
We handle monohulls, multihulls, and modern powerboats. Our team is familiar with a wide range of yachts, including Beneteau, Jeanneau, Oyster, Lagoon, Seawind, Sunreef, Nordhavn, Selene, Azimut, and Sunseeker. Each vessel type is handled according to its systems, performance profile, and operating requirements.
Deliveries are planned to minimise unnecessary strain on the yacht. Routing, speed, and timing are managed so the vessel arrives safely and ready to be used, whether the passage is a short coastal relocation or a longer offshore delivery. Where required, we also coordinate fuel stops, customs procedures, and port clearances.
From first enquiry to final handover, our approach is straightforward and professional. The objective is simple: move the yacht safely, keep the owner informed, and deliver the vessel in good order at the agreed destination.
