We completed the 3rd delivery aboard a Horizon PC52 and came away impressed with how practical these boats are for longer coastal and offshore work.
The Horizon PC52 feels very different from many production power catamarans. The build quality is noticeable immediately and the boat has a much more solid offshore feel underway than a lot of lighter multihulls in the same category. Visibility from the helm is excellent, systems access is good, and the overall layout works well during longer passages where crew are actually living onboard continuously rather than moving between marinas.
During the delivery we encountered a mix of typical coastal conditions with some uncomfortable sea state at times, enough to get a proper feel for the boat offshore. The Horizon handled it comfortably throughout and maintained very respectable fuel economy at sensible cruising speeds.
One thing that stood out was how quiet and stable the platform remained underway. Fatigue management becomes important on longer deliveries and boats with predictable motion and lower onboard noise levels make a major difference after several days offshore for the crew.
The Horizon PC52 feels very well suited to Australian coastal cruising and longer owner relocation passages when matched with realistic weather planning and sensible operating speeds.
At Yacht Delivery Solutions, offshore motor yacht and power catamaran deliveries form a regular part of our Australian work.
