Dick Newick designs occupy a unique place in offshore sailing history. Light displacement, efficient hull forms and impressive passagemaking ability make these performance multihulls very different from conventional cruising monohulls or heavier catamarans. Delivering a high-performance trimaran requires an understanding of the vessel’s capabilities and an appreciation for how quickly conditions, routing decisions and sail choices can influence the overall passage.
This particular assignment involved collecting the yacht in Langkawi, one of Southeast Asia’s major yachting centres and a common starting point for regional yacht relocations. Deliveries from Malaysia frequently support owners repositioning their yachts for cruising seasons.
