Leopard 44

A fairly typical East Coast catamaran delivery from Coffs Harbour to the Whitsundays aboard a Leopard 44, requiring careful weather timing along the Queensland coastline.

As an Australian yacht delivery company, we delivered this Leopard 44 from Coffs Harbour to the Whitsundays.

We have moved a number of Leopard catamarans over the years and the Leopard 44 is always a straightforward boat to work with during deliveries. Access around the deck is good and there is plenty of storage for spares, tools and provisions. The machinery spaces are also easy to get into when carrying out routine checks underway.

Before departure we completed our usual inspection of the vessel and picked up a few service items from local suppliers in Coffs Harbour. A couple of engine fluids needed topping up and we spent some time reorganising equipment that had been stored in the cockpit lockers. We also gave the decks and cockpit a clean before leaving, which makes life easier when preparing the yacht for handover at the other end.

One practical aspect of this delivery was working around marina traffic as we moved north. Fuel docks were busy in a few locations and it sometimes took longer to get alongside than the actual refuelling process. Apart from that, the trip was fairly routine. We had some rain during part of the passage and spent time cleaning salt from the helm area and windows whenever conditions allowed.

The Leopard 44 arrived in the Whitsundays and was prepared for handover before being transferred to its receiving party. Deliveries between Coffs Harbour, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Whitsundays are a regular part of our work, with Leopard catamarans remaining one of the more common models we relocate along Australia’s east coast.
